In Memoriam, Rick Daniel

I found this out this evening while reading Ms. Manning's blog along with Will Folk's blog. On behalf of all of Pointman's Politico readers, I would like to offer my condolences to the family of a true public servant. Rick Daniel, a true supporter of our right to bear arms and advisor to Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom, died unexpectedly at his home this afternoon. Please join with me and take a moment of silence for this great conservative warrior.

Thank you Rick for all your service to the South Carolina Republican Party. We'll truly miss you.

Pointman's Politico presents.....

The next few posts will be about different candidates running for statewide offices in South Carolina. Enjoy them!

The Pointman is back........

Its about time that the Pointman returned to the blog arena. Well, like I mentioned in previous posts, I am a die-hard conservative who is working his butt trying to keep the GOP in power in Washington. I had the privilege to hear noteworthy GOP frontrunners speak on how they plan to keep the GOP in power.

Whats up with T-Rav?

If you were to ask me several months ago what I thought about Thomas Ravenel, being part of the campaign staff of Rick Quinn, I thought he was stupid for getting into the race at the last minute, but I admit, he won fair and square. I'll outline my rationalizations below.

First, I honestly believe that Rick Quinn had the better plan for SC in the treasurer's role. The only reason that Quinn lost was that he didn't pump in the millions like Ryberg and Ravenel did. By using such amounts of money, he garnered the limelight and it helped him succeed.

Second, George Ramsey, who was Greg Ryberg's campaign manager, stated that Ryberg was rifled at the notion following the primary that Ravenel was not committed to a four-year tenure as the SC treasurer. Well, the notion is now an established fact. A well-known petition is going around to persuade T-Rav to run for US Senate in 2008 against Lindsey Graham. Even with his good looks and charming personality, T-Rav will fall flat on his ass in a campaign against Graham. In a recent survey conducted by an independent think thank based in Washington, out of 100 senators, Graham was rated number 20. Can you guess who was rated second to last at number 99? Thats right, good ole' Jim DeMint. Graham has enough power and prestige among Republicans, thanks to his role in the impeachment of Bill Clinton. T-Rav has a better chance to run in 2010 against his nemesis in the 2004 Senate primary, Jim DeMint. Personally I think that South Carolina got shafted in 2004 when DeMint was elected. The election was a mere referendum on Inez Tennenbaum. He (DeMint) spent the entire election on how he was better than Inez, rather that outline to his constituents, his employers, on how he was going to represent better the state of South Carolina on the hill.

Do us a favor, T-Rav, don't run in 2008, but run in 2010 against DeMint.

Mitt the Mormon

Mitt Romney.....does this guy have a chance in South Carolina? If you ask me, I don't think so. My rationalization...he's Mormon. Sure, a person who goes to BJU such as myself will not agree with his religious faith, but South Carolina holds one of the first Republican primaries in the 2008 Presidential Election. If Romney hopes to score big in that primary, he will have to convince the core conservatives of the state...The Religious Right of the Buckle of the Bible Belt, that he's the best choice. The Religious Right will vote not only on conscience, but for whom clearly stands in line with their core principles (aka the Bible).

Romney looks very presidential in the picture, but maybe too presidential. He reminds me of President Josiah Bartlett from the West Wing, and President Andrew Shepherd from the American President. Too Hollywood-esque for me!!!! I admit the West Wing was a great show, but still I don't need to have the entire political dialogue reenacted for real life. We already had it enacted, it was called the Clinton presidency. Well, except for the sexual shenanigans of El Presidente, it is a close resemblency.

Another area that I disagree with Romney is his stance on national health care. Where have I heard of that before? Oh yes, thaty was a pundit pursued by former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton back in the formative years of the turbulent Clinton Administration.

Stay tuned for more Pointman Presents!

Ahhh Yes....the Pointman of Greenville

Some of you maybe wondering who the heck the Pointman is. Well, your queries are about to be answered. The Pointman of Greenville is a certain individual who takes no prisoners and will serve anyone who so needs to be served. Don't believe me, ask around!

The Pointman's passions include the ladies, first and foremost. Secondly, he's passionate about politics and he's striving to keep a Republican in power in 2008.

This blog will keep folks within the closely guarded confines of a select few acres between Wade Hampton Blvd and North Pleasantburg up to date with the political scene in the city, county, state, and nation as a whole. Move over Laurin Manning and "Gervais S. Bridges," there's a new guy in town who is more in touch with the far, far right-wing conservatives then people will give him credit for.
